I went from living an extremely unhealthy workaholic lifestyle relying on pharmaceuticals to get through the day and mounting symptoms... Until one day I decided to make some changes. Some small. Some big, but I started to feel amazing, and all my so-called chronic conditions went away.

That was several years ago. Since then I've continued to make changes and learn more about health & wellbeing. Just like everything else I do - I do this with a lot of intensity and a lot of reading up and intentional decision making.

Here I will share some tips, stories, practical insights, recommended resources and more to guide you on taking intentional steps towards feeling your best.

Women's health

Fertility, menstrual cycle and more.

Like most women I was on the pill (Yaz) for several years.

Part of my health journey and one of the first steps I took was coming off the pill. I detailed that experience in a Youtube video.

I also learnt about my menstrual cycle and fertility awareness to naturally prevent pregnancy until we were ready to conceive and to use indicators from my cycle as feedback on my health.

PSA: You can prevent pregnancy naturally without using an IUD, the pill or any other medication/patches or things that disrupt your natural, beautiful cycle!

If you have your doubts or this sparked your curiosity - watch my detailed video on avoiding pregnancy naturally. I did it successfully for 3 years and then when we wanted to conceive, we used fertility awareness to conceive and now for nearly 2 years I have also used this awareness to prevent pregnancy postpartum. I guess another PSA: Yes! you can 100% use this method successfully postpartum and I have.

Overview of my choices

A summary of my choices

Here is the thing - I don't subscribe to mainstream health & wellbeing choices. I did at the start of my journey and some of it served me, but the more I learnt and the more I understood the more I was able to make changes and find experts that I believe offer more value to me (and other people). Because I know there are loads of contradictions and different opinions on health - here is an overview of my approach for you to glance and see if any of it resonates for you.

  1. Natural living in terms of personal care & my home

  2. Food choices: Bio energetic / prometabolic / Ray Peat Inspired. Basically, what is going to promote my metabolism (for disease fighting, energy and thriving not weight). What is the healthiest for my hormones. Is what I am consuming packed with nutrients that are actually bio available (as in my body can use it and absorb it well)? And avoiding things that put unnecessary pressure on my body.

  3. Wholefood over supplements, with select supplementation to make up for past health choices, limited access to some health things I would want or pressure from the environment that I am not able to change.

  4. I am not afraid of sugar and happily incorporate it into my diet. Except high fructose corn syrup. I don't do that one.

  5. Fats - Yay sat fat and nay PUFA (polyunsaturated fat). I avoid canola, sunflower, rapeseed, grapeseed oils. I limit the use of monosat like avo and olive. And I mostly use sat fat like tallow, coconut and butter.

  6. I don't drink liters and liters of water in the name of hydration.  I focus on mineral rich drinks, and you'll see me drinking adrenal cocktails, quality milk and tea.

  7. I no longer do high intensity training or stressful exercise - it's not great for women's hormones. I do strength training, yoga and other intentional movement.

  8. I eat meat and lots of it. Free range meat.

  9. I don't eat loads of vegetables or grains and when I do I make sure to prepare them properly to improve the bioavailability of nutrients and lessen the burden on my digestion.

  10. I don't use weight as a health marker - instead I look at things like my energy, any symptoms I am experiencing, my cycle and period, my libido and excitement for life, my basal body temperature and whether I feel warm and good.

  11. I believe symptoms are from our physical environment and what we consume plus emotional things.

  12. I'm a big believer in doing the inner emotional work and that focusing on physical health will only get you so far.

There is probably more, but I think you get the point.

I don't claim to be an expert, but I have read many experts' information and I surround myself with people who are experts in the things I am not.

I share what I do and why - I have no interest in convincing others to do the same. I share resources and I share information of other people who I would turn to or take advise from.

I read and research to make decisions for myself and my family, but I think some of that spills over is helpful for others.

One area I do consider myself an expert is Fertility Awareness. I have spent years researching the female cycle, tracking my own cycle and assisting other women with their Fertility Awareness. I've made several free videos on tracking your cycle and fertility awareness on my Youtube Channel. But I have also co-created an amazing course for women!

Fertility Awareness Journal & Charts

After many years of tracking my cycle and experimenting (for years) with different ways of recording the observations and reflections - I concluded that written format, but with some structure gives me everything I need. It offers the perfect balance—enough space for details while still providing a clear visual overview. Plus, keeping it on paper means one less thing on a screen, and as a bonus, my daughter is growing up seeing this as a natural part of life.

I am happy I get to share the journal and chart I use with you.

My Fertility Awareness Journal & Chart set is a great tool for anyone on a fertility awareness journey.

Whether you're tracking for health, conception, or natural birth control, this journal helps you stay organized and mindful of your cycle patterns.
