Quick crochet - Baby Beanie

Cream crocheted beanie on a light wooden surface. The beanie's chunky texture stands out against the smooth background.

Beginner friendly - Free Pattern - Multiple Sizes Available - Super Quick Project

With baby #2 on the way (35 weeks at the time of writing this) I want a few 100% wool items to keep baby warm, but in a natural way.

Wool is an amazing temp regulator and self-cleaning, and just all round amazing as long as it's not scratchy. For this project I brought out my 100% wool yarn - 99% of it is thrifted making it very affordable.

Bins of colorful yarn, including green, cream, and multicolored skeins, sit on a light carpeted floor. Various yarn labels are visible.

I then looked through way too many Pinterest pins to try find a quick and easy pattern as my first beanie making attempt.

I settled on the free pattern by Hands that Bless that seemed easy, but also, I didn't need to sign up. I could just read the pattern and go (usually I am not this to the point, but I am super pregnant and have lots of things I want to still make).

This took under an hour and didn't use much yarn. I used a medium weight yarn, and I think just in case I might make a bigger size as well or up the weight of the yarn.

This pattern uses a magic ring - which I know some people don't love using, but honestly it is very easy once you get the hang of it. See my learn to crochet resources here. If you really don't want to use it - make a chain and attach :)

Other than that, the project required doing double crochet, single crochet and slip stitch. It doesn't require much counting or keeping track. I could finish this while chatting to my family while Ian made us dinner.

I am sharing this project as inspiration, but also to potentially save you the time of searching for a free baby beanie pattern. This one is great. I recommend it.
