A Colourful Crochet Elephant Gift

We attended a birthday party this weekend, and my go-to with gifts is always to make something special. This time, I crocheted a colourful elephant.
If you’re new to crochet or looking for recommendations on where to start, you can visit my Learn to Crochet page — I’ve gathered beginner-friendly tips and my favourite crochet tools there to help you get started.
The Pattern
For this elephant, I used a pattern from the beautiful book Mama Made Minis: Knotted Loveys. It’s full of adorable crochet animal patterns designed especially for little ones — soft, snuggly, and so fun to make. I can’t recommend this book enough!
So far, I’ve made the unicorn, monkey, frog, fox, bunny, and panda from this book — and each one has been a hit. Next up is the hippo, because (you guessed it) we’ve got another birthday party coming up soon!

Yarn Choice
I crocheted this elephant using Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn — a super bulky yarn that makes for a soft, squishy finish. I love being eco-friendly wherever possible, so many of my projects are made with natural fibers or thrifted yarn.
This particular elephant was made from thrifted yarn.

Concluding Remarks
I am excited to make the Hippo (please subscribe to see future projects) and I really can't recommend this book enough if you enjoy making cute animals as gifts. I didn't think I would use it as much as I have. The patterns are easy to follow, and all the necessary tips and information is included with photographs.
I really enjoy crocheting gifts for kids - it feels like a special and unique present for them to get.

Hope you enjoy the pattern if you end up making it!
